Mission

The first time I visited Wurst was for a reunion with my German class from high-school. I had an excellent time. First off, I will say that our server wasn't very personable, seemed very snobby and disinterested in serving our large group. But the Pile of Bratwurst and Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier definitely made up for that. Very delicious, made very well. The dining hall was very different and inviting. When we moved to the bier hall, that was excellent as well; the tower of Jager definitely caught our attention. The only downside was that too many Boots had been broken on opening night so we couldn't get any. ;) Any other night I've been here it's been just as excellent!

Just enjoyed a Sunday lunch at the restaurant....with 4 friends... Food was great....and service was attentive and fun... Really enjoyed the time spent there and will be back.. They have an eclectic menu which should have something for everyone.. Beer & Wine list is very good.... Prices could be a little better.. but you do get what you pay for... Will be back again and again.... Fabulous French Fries...Just a neat place to go to for nice relaxing dining..

My good friend Wayne recommended Wurst beer hall to me. Awesome service, great atmosphere, and decent food. I would go again.

I agree with gastronmica chica.
My wife and I also used an online coupon deal for $40 of food.
First of all, when I called to book a table just in case they were busy and I asked about tables open for that evening, the guy on the line made it sound like he was flipping through several pages in a book to find tonights table reservations, hunh? Certainly, your book would be open to the current day....
His manner was "non-interested" he didn't seem to care about the fact that I am interested in trying his restaurant.
When we arrived at the location, we were a little surprised that it was a hole in the wall Mexican/Indian restaurant (La Casita and Wicked Chili).
I'm pretty sure that the owner tried this concept once before when he opened Wicked Chili/Green Papaya in Creekside (5 minutes from my home).
The papaya side died shortly after opening and Wicked Chili took the whole space. Sadly, the indian food was not good and now there is "Taste of India" where wicked/papaya used to be.
Back on topic.....
Service: fast but not to friendly
Ambiance: mexican music a little annoying after 10 minutes, not much effort put into decorations (paper snowflakes hanging on the walls) and the menu's......please....a plastic sheet protector you used for all those important high school papers.
Food: oh boy, chica had it right on. NO FLAVOUR!!!!! We ordered chorizo sausage and cheese for apps. No taste, dripping in grease. We ordered chicken quesedillas and enchilladas, also both no flavour. As well, and most surprising especially since there was an indian restaurant right next door, the food and almost no heat! No spice! No zip! No pep!
I would be ripping the owner a new one if my name had been Gordon Ramsay!!!!
We spent $41 of our $40 voucher and left feeling that needed to rush home to make a fresh berry smoothie to wash out the grease and get some flavour on our tongues.
Oh...and John Gilchrist, if your reading this, don't even bother going to this one.....

My boyfriend and I bought a deal off living social and thought, how exciting, lets go have dinner ! We arrived at the restaurant at 7 PM and there were two other tables occupied. We were greeted immediately and asked to have a seat anywhere. The ambiance was strange, you first walk in to a split between a mexican restaurant and and indian restaurant. The inside was decorated in mexican fashion and they were playing some strange hip hop off of someone's ipod on a buffet table. Whatever.
Our server came and delivered menus, which after looking online at the menu, it contained half of the options. We ordered salsa and chips to start. I had to grab a napkin off another table, b/c ours didn't have any. Okay, then came our food. Our server went and grabbed some cutlery to place on the table and there was HAIR in the cutlery. She tried to pick out this LONG BLACK HAIR and failed miserably. So she went and got us new cutlery at a side table.
My boyfriend ordered the Chicken enchilladas, which looked really skimpy and were so bland. The "mexican" rice was horrible with dried up peas and carrots.
I ordered tacos with steak. As I was putting my cilantro on my skimpy steak mini tacos, I noticed that there was DEAD LADYBUGS in it ! OMG. first the hair and now this ? So, I reordered my meal, all the while thinking, I should have just throw my food at the wall and ran. I got the new meal and doctored it up with all the sauces and it was so gross. How does food have no flavor when you have salsa rojo, salsa verde, guacamole, onions, steak and cilantro on it ?? Weird. Plus, the meat was so tough, I couldn't even pull it apart with my fingers.
My boyfriend and I were so hungry we thought we would just eat. After dinner, we thought, let's order some deep fried Ice cream. So we asked our server and she said, we sold out. WHAT ? who sells out of that ? Seriously pissed at this point. Plus our server kept mentioning how sorry she was about the bugs in my food. BLECK. Then she offered us to have some rice pudding or some indian dessert that she didn't even know the name. I said no way and we got the bill and only spent $30 out of our $40 gift certificate.
Seriously the grossest mexican ever. I said that even Taco Time and Taco Bell are 100 times better. I've eaten at El Sombrero many many times, as well as Don Quiote and have had my fair share of mexican in the USA. THIS PLACE SUCKS AND SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN !!

This is a great restaurant, we've been there couple of times and we love the buffet. I like the Butter Chicken the best and the other courses are great too. The buffet is my favorite. With a Mango shake or Lassi!! MMM

I love, love, love this place! Everything about it is great and if I could afford to go there everytime I went out, I would. First off, the wine - oh the wine!- so much to choose from and you have options. Try it by the 2oz sample (we did a "flight" of three), by the glass, half bottle, or full. Our server was SO knowledgeable and we were all super impressed with his service. All four of us who went have worked or work in the industry, and this service was top-notch! If you like red wine, you must try the Elyse 'C'est si Bon" GSM, it's very unique and very good. We ordered some cheese and meat and were also impressed with the spread of crackers, bread, coulis, olives, pickles, etc. that came with our selection. Portions are small for the price (ie. A wedge of cheese the size of 1/4 of my palm was $7) but everything is top quality and delicious. The Creme brûlée was also amazing, but small.
Overall a wonderful experience that all of us girls thoroughly enjoyed. The atmosphere is trendy buy comfy, impecable service, great food, and even better wine. You have to go here for the experience!

My favourite sushi place. The food is delicious and extremely filling. I'm never disappointed and I'm always trying new things there. Will recommend to anyone who is looking for great sushi.

The pub looks great, very authentic Irish pub feel but that's about it has going for it. The service was none existent. Waited 30 minutes for drinks to arrive on a slow Tuesday night. Waitress seemed more interested in chatting up her coworkers in the corner than taking our order or delivering it. Had the fish and chips. Not exactly what I'd call traditional Irish pub fare. The fish portions were small and the tarter sauce came straight from a jar. I hate restaurants claiming "authentic" food but can't deliver. This is just one of the many "Irish" pubs in this city serving OK to decent food. Just to nitpick, Irish pubs typically don't have flatscreens blaring hockey and baseball.

Mercato is an amazing up beat place and a very social enviroment.
If you are headed there ensure you make a reservation...
They have an amazing wine list. The dishes are very large so if you are there for the four course meal...it is made for two!
The food is also very good. Gourmet Italian!

Yam Tempura - Overly browned, and they should really change the oil.
Takoyaki - good, what you'd expect
Spicy Tuna - Tuna was definitely not fresh and tasted weird. Got eight pieces of sushi, all eight looked different and had different heights.
Assorted Sashimi - Tuna was not fresh and i got more than a fist full of dry and unpleasent daikon radish garnish, which REALLY filled the plate.
The service at this restaurant was pretty bad. To start, the menu was dirty and oily. I made a point to show that i was cleaning the menu, the waitress looked away. I also noticed that the waitresses were wiping off the table, and all the dirty bits went to the chair, not so nice if you were to sit on it. Plates were shoved around the table so much so i didn't know where to put my elbow. Taking away my tempura dip before i finished my tempura didn't help either.
In my honest opinion, this restaurant offers Japanese food to the more general public, and not for authentic quality sushi seekers. However their prices only barely reflect this fact.
There are three things I always look for in a quality sushi restaurant. Fresh ingredients, taste and knife work /presentation. Hana Sushi have only one of these three elements, barely though.
Overall, with the kind of prices they are charging, you may not want to go out of your way to eat there, as you may be hugely dissapointed.

It's sad when the front of house completely lets down the hard work of the kitchen. Get ready to feel like the cattle you're about to eat! Clearly this was a case of trying to fit to many seatings in one evening. Our reservation was for 8:15 and we weren't seated until 9:00 with no apologies or even a smile from the hostess. We were offered a wine list while we waited but no one came back
to take our order, 15mins later we
finally approached someone for our drinks. It makes you wonder
why someone who isn't a people person takes the job as a hostess or why what appears to be an upscale restaurant would hire them. Service from beginning to end was rude, it spoiled an evening we were really looking forward too. The ultimate shame was the food was pretty good, what a let down by the front. If you're looking for a place for a special event try Centini's or Murrieta's which are close by with great food and consistently good service.

After several visits to Purple Perk, I still have mixed feelings. I think they have excellent coffee, good service, and good atmosphere. I'm not a big fan of their prices - I feel like I've found equivalent food for cheaper elsewhere. I've had lunch there a few times and it was just okay. Their service is fast if you just want a latte, but if you order food it seems to take a very long time. They do have a great spot for sitting outside on a warm day to see and be seen. So if you feel like channeling your inner yuppie, Purple Perk is the place to go.

Too bad. It use to be good and the owner was very nice. Maybe it was a bad day?

While we found that the tables were not spaced apart very well... a little too intimate for our liking, the general atmosphere was groovy. Food was delicious (the pork belly was sooooo fantastic, I may be going back for that alone.) Enormous wine list, with 2 oz "taste" pours available-this is by far the greatest idea in the universe- tasting 10 wines wouldn't be out of the question in an evening. Karen, the sommelier, is knowledgable and personable, and the serving staff seem to enjoy where they are working, so not too hard to enjoy yourself here!

towa sushi makes the best sushi. but a little bit expensive

TO date best sushi place DT! Will be surprised if I find one better. Huge rolls, great price. GREAT service.
Am a repeat customer ..weekly.

Hadn't been in a couple of years to this pub as it used to be the most boring Pub in Calgary. They have new owners now, a couple of years I guess, and it it has really livened up!!
We went on a Wednesday night for their 1 cent Ribs, we even called ahead because we didn't believe it but were assured the only catch was you had to order at least a pop with every 20 ribs.
The place had great energy and the Ribs were amazing, regardless of price. We had Salt and Pepper and Honey Garlic and they were big and juicy and 10 was actually enough.
The service was top notch and they had lots of TVs for sports ect, something it never used to have.
Went for a lunch a couple of time since and the food again was excellent, the Wild Boar Burger is as good as a burger as you'll find anywhere

It's been around Mission for years, and is always great. Excellent basic sushi, friendly staff, reasonable prices. I try lots of different sushi places in town, but never go too long without going back to Hana

We had a group of eight with us and chose this venue to celebrate a friend's birthday. It took an hour and a half to receive our meal. The meals themselves were average, overcooked, and did not meet expectations for what we felt french fine dining should have felt like. Plates were shoved in front of us and hastily removed the instant they saw an empty plate. The waiters were rude, gave very resentful looks at us, and gave no courtesy in saying "excuse me" or even "thank you", especially when grabbing (literally) our credit cards out of our hands. The Tables were set up in awkward fashion making it difficult for the waiter to move between tables. In fact, one of the waiters tripped over one of the girl's purses which was laid next to her seat, said "F*** You!" to the birthday girl, picked up the purse and threw it across the restaurant without a care for an apology. Later on we found out that waiter was the owner/manager of the restaurant. All in all, I have never regretted going to eat out as much as this night. I have never seen such disrespect for customer service. Please heed this message! For the traumatic experience that that poor birthday girl experienced, please don't go to this restaurant!

I love to hang out here. This place has great staff, good food and fantastic coffee. The owner Paul obviously loves what he does and his customers. Worthy of your $. Great place to sit and watch people on the patio.

Very nice atmosphere, good food, and friendly service. This is a busy restaurant so get there early!

Towa Sushi is one of my favorite places to get sushi. It is very unique with their creative rolls and just the sheer size of them. This place does not skimp on the fish. Each piece of sushi is definitely a two-biter, so you're bound to make a mess. But don't worry, they actually provide you with a wet-nap! I think that Towa has the best spicy sauce in the city. I usually order extra and have asked if they sell it, it is that good. Towa is great for when you really want to try something different, for example, one roll is wrapped in a thin egg-sheet and another has jalapeno tempura in it. The space is attractive with funky lighting fixtures and the service is good.
