Saltlik is attached to the Glanville/Ward (Lougheed) Block on historic Stephan Avenue. This block was constructed in 1898 and the building that is now Saltlik used to be a bank. In fact, our building was the first CIBC in Western Canada and was converted to Saltlik in 2001. We have converted the old bank vault into our wine cellar, which is on display as guests walk downstairs. The metal works horse outside of the building was purchased by our owner Stu Fuller at an auction in 2001 and is now an iconic fixture in downtown Calgary. The sculpture was created by famous artist Russell Zeid, whose works can be found in many museums and cultural buildings throughout Canada.
I celebrated my friend's promotion at this restaurant. Good spot for a larger crowd if needed. I really enjoyed the food and liked the artistic lighting. I don't remember the service which means that I was able to get lost in my people. Thanks.
