Have been going for years, and although he has had his up and downs, Guido seems to have found his groove again. The food and service were fabulous, it is not inexpensive, but well worth it. If what you want exactly is not on the meu, ask ... they will accomodate you. I would recommend it to anyone.

I have been anticipating the opening for months as I watched it all come together. Then I drove by today and it was open. It did not disappoint. The decor was done clean but funky. The food portion was generous and tasty! The servers are delightful and eclectic.
They serve Illy and I would have had an americano, had I known before ordering the house brew. My friend bought our late lunch, so it was a great experience for me.

I had a hankerin' for pancakes so why not. I had always wanted to try this place since I had heard it was quite good.
It is very quaint and down-home.
It seems to draw people from all over the city. It was a real mix of old and young people that created a great place for the people watchers in my fam.
The portions were large and ample for the 4 of us. The flavours were wonderful and we loved the whole package. The staff were also friendly.
We will definately add this to the list of return restaurants.

We are not that big of eaters that the buffet would make sense. When the staff finally realized that they couldn't convince us that we had to have the buffet, they were very accomodating. The first person that served us was a little overwhelmed and then the real server showed up. She was so pleasant and friendly. The food was delicious and ample for our party. This place seemed to me, to be a hidden treasure, but apparently everyone else knew and just didn't let me know!!??
We have found our chinese restaurant and will definately be ordering from them again.

On Thursday March 4, 2010, my girlfriend an I had the privilege of dining at a great restaurant, with even better service. Upon entering, we were greeted by a courteous manager by the name of Christopher who escorted us to our cozy table next to the fire place. Our server Josée was equally as courteous and attentive. The overall atmosphere was fantastic and the food was flavourful and cooked to perfection. Great Experience! Will be back soon!

We were a party of 6 on a Saturday night. Each and every one of us was well dined and well served. The portions were sizeable which is not always the case in upscale restaurants. Probably because we were seniors we found it a bit noisy but it didn't keep us from having a wonderful dining experience. We'll all go again.

We had a casual, but quite enjoyable Saturday lunch here. The interior is bright, fresh, and warm, and the food exceeded our expectations. We had all of the daily features, a cheese plate, a meat plate, a pintroxs (small bite) and an appy order of meatballs to share between the 3 of us and a baby. They were all delicious, except we could probably do without the small bites which were BLT skewers, since they were really really small bites, perhaps just enough as a snack for my 18 mth old. We also shared a proscuitto pizza and meatball appetizer which was both very tasty. The meatballs had a wonderful sauce and the pizza was light and crispy. Dessert was good too. We would definitely come back and recommend friends to try it out. The price is a bit high for the actual amount of food you get, but it's still worthwhile overall.

LUNCH - If you want ambiance got to Parkerhouse. The food has been a disappointment around the table ever time, from salads, main dishes, the only thing that passes is the soup.

I really loved Royal Thai. The food was incredible (I had the green curry with tofu) and the service was great. Everyone I ate with also liked their meal. Good value and tasty food. And I like the decor too!

My husband and I ate at Phoenix Grill about 3 or 4 times when they first opened, but we came to the conclusion that we just didn't care for any of their food. We just had lunch there this weekend and were delightfully surprised to see big improvements. Everyone in our party of ten loved their food, including us. The menu is quite different than it used to be. I had the Napa Valley Salad and thought it was delicious. The service was good and friendly. Phoenix Grill has now been moved back to our list of regulars.

It use to be so good...6 years ago! The food was overcooked and the soup was cold. Very noisy and not comfortable seating. Should rethink before they go belly up!

Too bad. It use to be good and the owner was very nice. Maybe it was a bad day?

It is a good restaurant. I had good calamare and the pasta were well done. Nothing fancy but good

Six of us went out to celebrate Valentines together. We live in the neighbourhood and thought we should patronize the local establishment (knowing it would be expensive). We checked in our coats, got the tag, and were sat. We sat and sat. Finally were asked if we wanted drinks & ordered wine. Ten minutes later were told it wasn't available...whatever. Eventually ordered from the "Valentine" menu, although was confused by the prices by each item because if one ordered an entre one got all courses...so some of us didn't order the salad or soup, etc... At the end of the evening we went to get our coats and they had given away my coat to someone else! Despite having a coat tag! WTF. So they gave me the coat that obviously belonged to who ever took mine! It took 4 return visits to straighten this mess out! The service sucked, the food was NOT worth the exorbitant price and the management didn't seemed concerned at all at any inconvenience they may have caused. Will not go back until it changes hands, and I suspect this won't be very long in coming.

Worth the stop for solid coffee and quality, tasty food. Friendly service and always served hot - I make it regularly now as part of a balanced breakfast joint diet and for business meetings.
Worth it for a lunch trip too

Someone recommended the District ...my husband and I went there after work on a Wednesday. We walked in and checked out the board menus...most menus were easy to see, but some were over tables and I found it a bit uncomfortable to be staring at people. I did not like the greasy smell, but my husband did not mine. We wanted to try the place becuase of the locally grown organic products. My husband ordered a burger and a salad (with a beer) and I got prawns and a poutine. The buger and salad were good but the portion was really small. The prawns were ok and the poutine was good, but small for the price. I paid $1,50 for tomatos and got 3 small piece, pretty thin on the cheese curds as well. Fries and gravy was good. Service was a bit slow. Overall the food is ok, but the portion definately small. The price are not likely to come down, and I am willing to pay for organic produce as long as its fresh, so I would rather they charge me one more dollar and actually have a little extra.

A friend and I decided to try this for a late lunch. It's not anything like your average restaurant. They do the flat top grill and you may be sitting with other groups of people. I hear there is more of a show that the chef does in the evening, but I was impressed with lunch, so I wonder what they do at night?
The food was so fresh( no way to hide it?)as they prepared it right in front of us. I would definately do that again! Great place for a socializing lunch!

I have been here on numerous occasions and I am in awe everytime. I just love the atmosphere and the history that surrounds you. This is one of the jewels of our city!
