Downtown Canmore Restaurants Canmore : chomp!

Downtown Canmore

Although small, Canmore’s downtown offers a wide variety of dining options all within easy walking distance of each other. Main Street / 8th Street is the heart of downtown and is filled with everything from upscale dining rooms to corner cafes, from brew pubs to casual bistros. Being small does have it's advantages. Why not restaurant hop and try appetizers in one, entrees in another, and finish the evening with dessert and after dinner drinks at a third.

The coffee mine serves Illy coffee, which I hear is popular and in high demand. I enjoyed a caramel macchiatto there one afternoon as well as a nice croissant - so tasty!

My husband and I went to Murrieta's for our anniversary a few years ago, and I still remember the excellent service. They apologized when our table wasn't quite ready at the time we had reserved it for. We only ended up waiting a few minutes, but they still gave us a free round of drinks. The food was excellent and they treated us well.

My friends and I stopped at the Paw last summer after pretty much every hike or camping trip. We believe that the Paw can do no wrong. They brew such good beer (I recommend trying their sample tray, or get the pumpkin ale if it's in season). When asked what kind of salad you want with your meal, order Granny B's roughage. There is no other way to go. I often order just a large portion of that salad and find myself daydreaming about it for weeks later. Their pulled pork sandwich is also top notch.

Communitea has all of the same qualities I love about the town of Canmore. They're green, they love nature and the earth, they love supporting the local community and arts. They have a fantastic selection of quality teas (qualiteas? sorry - I had to) and great lunches for both vegetarians and carnivores. I had the pad thai and it was amazing.

Communitea is what they profess to be: Community oriented, Environmentally conscious, reasonably quiet and has good food. The decor is a bit eclectic; there are bean bag chairs, lounge chairs and tables with pull-up chairs. It ends up looking a bit disorganized which might be the intent. The coffee is good although not the best in Canmore. Soups are very good and very generous. Parking is easy as it is off main street.

Out of the blue, we decided to make a run to Canmore and wanted to try out this quiet little corner place. Seems like it is well run and it has some nice coffee choices. I do like that they serve Intelligencia!
I had a very delicious ham & cheese panini. I didn't study the ingredients, so I was pleasantly suprised when it showed up with spinach on it. Yum!
I also tried a MAPLE latte. It wasn't my favorite, but I like the idea in such a touristy place.
