The Iron Goat name is inspired by Canmore's rich Railway Heritage. One memorable train engine, built in 1905 for the C.P.R. was sold to Canmore Mines Ltd. in 1943 and hauled coal until it was finally retired to Calgary's Heritage Park in 1963. It was affectionately called "The Iron Goat".
