A friend recomended this place to me and I also wanted to take the family out for lunch, so we hopped in the car and headed for China Rose. This was definately worth the drive. I usually dislike buffet, only because the food sits out too long. Well the food looked fresh and plentiful. We all decided to try it. The food was so fresh and tasty! We will come back with more friends again and again. Thank you to all the reviews that we have been reading.

1600's Ahu Tuna Salad has become a mainstay in my diet....so great and amazing value. For what you get $16 is a cheap price....seeing as how many other places with similar dishes charge much more. I've always been impressed with 1600's service especially at lunchtime and the lounge has a good vibe.

I hadn't been to Oceana since it was formerly La Caille on the Bow. For a mid-week lunch, it was a great choice. I find parking generally challenging in the downtown core so Oceana's customer parking lot was a welcome relief. My friend and I were seated in the lounge, a comfortable yet sophisticated setting. Our drinks were seen to promptly and our lunch order was taken right away (it seemed obvious to me that they must be used to the business crowd with little time to spare.) I tried the lunch special: Cajun Snapper with grilled veggies, garlic mashed potatoes, and a starter of the seafood chowder. For $18.95 I thought it was a great deal considering the quantity of food, location, and atmosphere. Lunch was great, with flavours that were pleasant yet not overpowering (the cajun and the garlic that is.) I have since then told friends about it and am happy to recommend it here on chomp.

Went to the Blue Fox for breakfast with friends on a recent holiday to Victoria. The menu had plenty of interesting choices. I tried the veggie omelet, which was huge and delicious! The atmosphere was playful and fun. Service was good considering a full restaurant with people waiting at the door (a normal thing from what I've heard).

My next trip to Victoria will definitely include a trip back to the Fox.

Stopped in for a drink with friends on a sunny day, and was seated on their wonderful second storey patio. The Seagrille & Pub is located at Brentwood Bay Lodge and the patio overlooks the pool, gardens and Brentwood Bay itself with a collection of kayakers and sailboats - in my opinion, a spectacular view. Service was prompt, friendly and inviting. The wine list was extensive, as was the cocktail list, but I opted for a local brew on a friend's recommendation. It seems to me that this is an ideal location for a quick trip out of town or to bring visiting family and friends. Although a brief visit, it won't be my last.

I recently decided that I really do need to add more veggies to my diet...a problem in the past since given the choice between eating leafy greens and chicken or steak, I'll go for the chicken or steak thanks. Re-Bar had me feeling like a fool after I tried their Almond burger with side salad and a starter of coconut curry eggplant soup. I didn't realize vegetarian food could taste this good. The atmosphere was funky and fun with plenty to look around at and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Overall a great dining (and learning) experience.

IMG_2531.jpgThis was my second time at Cattlebaron, South - I had a great experience a few weeks ago for dinner so I thought I'd try it for lunch this time. Ordered the Bullseye Burger which came fully loaded. It was delicious but sadly more than I could handle (I'm a city slicker, not a hard-working ranchman.) I had to double check the menu price as I was sure that I misread the $12 pricetag. The CattleBaron scored again with me and my wallet.

Went to Cattlebaron South for the first time last night....was recommended the dry ribs (apparently a house specialty) and the rib eye. Both were excellent and exceeded my expectations.

The whole experience exceeded my expectations frankly because what I was expecting was something more like the North location. Don't get me wrong I think the food at both locations is good...it's just that the South location's atmosphere is so much better. I got the feeling that the owners had recently renovated the South one and hadn't moved onto the North one just yet.

I appreciated our server's attentive nature and knowledge of the menu and wine list - his recommendations were spot on for my tastes.

I recommend it and I'll definitely be back.

Each trip to Murrieta's is a great time. Good wine list and live music on the weekend. The atmosphere is elegant without being stuffy. Menu offers regional cuisine choices and plenty of tasty dishes.

Taking someone special out for dinner is nice...but for my girlfriend and I brunch is our favourite...especially when we double date with friends. This time it was Sunday brunch at The Ranche in Fish Creek Park. I had heard great things about it and was eager to try. First off the setting is superb - when you arrive you quickly forget you're still in the city. The restaurant is set in an old ranch house amongst the trees - wrap around porch, creeky old door...the works.

In exchange for my girlfriend being nice enough to let me pay the bill, she let's me have whatever it is that she can't finish. On this occasion I was especially happy she got full quickly. I ordered the poached eggs dish, but much preferred her mushroom, herb and cheese croissant scramble. Service was with a smile and attentive. A fantastic dining experience and one that we'll definitely repeat.

I had never tried Korean bbq before so I thought I'd give Anju a try. I had the braised bison short rib - an extremely flavorful dish. I had been to the space before when it was a coffee shop and was very impressed with the transformation of the interior - fresh and sophisticated. Service was prompt and friendly. All in all a great dining experience...I'll be back to try some of their unique cocktail offerings.

bumpys_dragon.jpgTried out Bumpy's for breakfast. Ordered a latte, oatmeal with coconut and tripleberry, and a breakfast panini. It all tasted great and the atmosphere was cool...but the real highlight was getting a fire-breathing dragon skillfully added to the foam of the latte.

Oh and thanks to Scott for recommending the 49th parallel espresso...fantastic.
