Molto Buono!

We decided to check out La Vita for our anniversary, mostly for the wine, but also hearing that the pasta is made in house. We were not disappointed! Our server, Asia, was very sweet and attentative and recommended the frutti de marr (sp.), a seafood pasta that was amazing!! My husband had lasagna that he loved as well. It was so good we didn't leave a single thing on the plate! It was a week day so it wasn't busy, but we would definitely go back.
My New Favorite!

I love, love, love this place! Everything about it is great and if I could afford to go there everytime I went out, I would. First off, the wine - oh the wine!- so much to choose from and you have options. Try it by the 2oz sample (we did a "flight" of three), by the glass, half bottle, or full. Our server was SO knowledgeable and we were all super impressed with his service. All four of us who went have worked or work in the industry, and this service was top-notch! If you like red wine, you must try the Elyse 'C'est si Bon" GSM, it's very unique and very good. We ordered some cheese and meat and were also impressed with the spread of crackers, bread, coulis, olives, pickles, etc. that came with our selection. Portions are small for the price (ie. A wedge of cheese the size of 1/4 of my palm was $7) but everything is top quality and delicious. The Creme brûlée was also amazing, but small.
Overall a wonderful experience that all of us girls thoroughly enjoyed. The atmosphere is trendy buy comfy, impecable service, great food, and even better wine. You have to go here for the experience!

My husband and I were staying at the Granville Island Hotel so we thought we should spend our first dinner there at the hotel. Let me begin by saying the food was amazing. The menu had a good selection, definitely created for the seafood lover, but with other enticing choices such as steak and several pasta dishes. I had the salmon which I would highly recommend, and my husband had the new york striploin which was phenomenal (I had a bite!). The service was very professional although sometimes a bit slow but we were there to enjoy ourselves anyway so it was okay. As for atmosphere, we sat on the patio which overlooks the ocean dock, it was gorgeous.
All in all, this was our favorite dining experience while we were in Vancouver and area. I would definitely recommend it if you're willing to spend a little extra money for the quality in food, service, and environment.

I was blown away by this cafe. Everything was phenomenal, beginning with the service. The employees don't sit around waiting for you they actually try to help you decide on what you might like by giving recommendations. We went for a light lunch I ended up ordering a grapefruit juice (REAL, freshly squeezed juice!!), and a cajun chicken baguette. It was so good!
Caffe Artigiano blows Starbucks out of the water with their latte's as well. My sister had a mocha and it came out with little hearts formed into the foam... and not to mention it was delicious!
We were all very impressed with this little coffee place, we're just wondering when it will come to Calgary?!

We were on vacation in Vancouver when we walked by this place looking for somewhere to have some drinks and couple appetizers. Edge has a nice drink menu with lots of unique options to choose from for cocktails and martinis, and has a decent selection for beer as well.
The menu is reasonably priced and has a very interesting range of items that make it a fun experience.
The appetizers we ordered were the goat cheese fondue and the trio of fries. The fondue was delicious but only comes with one pita for dipping so we had to order more ($1 each extra) but so worth it.
Service was also really good and we were able to relax and have a good time on their patio. We would definitely go back.

Only One Round for the Sandbar

We went to this restaurant based on its location, we thought it would be nice to have a drink and maybe an appetizer while we waited for a friend to meet us. Apparently this is a no-can-do for the Sandbar.
The hostesses made us feel like we were interrupting their time by asking for a table. She then informed us that if we were not planning on ordering food that we were allowed a maximum of one round of drinks as "tables as reserved for guests who are actually eating." Meanwhile, I'm looking around at all the empty tables and wondering why you would implement this rule when it's not even busy.
I work in the service industry and know from my experience that I'd rather have a table drinking then none at all... it just doesn't make sense, and it's very rude.
Then the service was mediocre at best. She was polite enough until she found out we were just there for a drink, and then we became what felt like a waste of time to her. I could practically feel her rolling her eyes as she walked away after telling her we were there just for drinks (we decided to forgo the appetizer based on all the above events).
So bascially, we sat down, drank our one round, put up with the poor service, payed the exorbitant bill, and vowed never to return. There are too many beautiful places to dine in Vancouver to waste your time on this place.
