Meal was absolutely mediocre. Service was appalling. I hope that says it all.
Downtown's Best Cafe

I know Artigiano well from my Vancouver days was extremely excited to see it open up doors in Calgary last year. The Calgary location seems to line up back to the door every half hour between 8-10am and again from 1:30-3pm on weekdays, so I always have the best luck there on the 15s and at lunch. They have a nice selection of sandwiches for lunch (the lamb is a personal fave), and you can usually find a table more easily than in any of the jam-packed food courts. As far as coffee goes: somewhere right below deVille, and miles above the thousands of packed Starbucks littering the rest of downtown.
The First Rule of Sushi Club...

Between me and my friends, the first rule of Sushi Club has always been: Don't talk about Sushi Club!
Now, I'm breaking my silence: this place is fantastic.
Probably the best, most consistently good, sushi in town. No gimmicks, no outlandish rolls lathered in too muh sauce to hide inferior fish. Just regular sized maki and nigiri that make you focus more on the quality of the fish, rather than the quantitiy, like the many overpriced spots found around town. Their hot dishes and appetizers are also first class and authentic.
In true Japanese tradition, I've decided to share my favorite sushi spot with you, lucky readers of Chomp!

Went last night for no corkage Wednesdays. Brought a couple bottles and had great food - but the service could have been a lot better.

Made in Canada.
